Remapping of motors
Your drone flips during testing? The wrong motors spin when you test them individually in the configurator? Then you can already be helped here!
The Betaflight Configurator
Plug your racer into the computer and open the configurator. Under the “Setup” tab, tilt your quad to the left, right, front and back. If the preview moves differently than your quad, it’s not your engine mapping that is primarily to blame. Then you first > have to determine the installation direction under Configuration Board and Sensor Alignment under Gyro, of which there are 8 options. If you’re not sure, try it out, save and look in the setup staff until the racer and preview match.
Managed? Well. That wasn’t the problem? Then let’s switch to the Motor Tab.
In the Betaflight Motor Tab
Now you definitely need the propellers from your racer, otherwise you can soon repaint the walls. Actionpainting in red is not for everyone.
After you remove the props, plug in your battery and confirm at the bottom right that you know what you’re doing. From now on you can use the motor control on the right side. Master controls all, the sliders under 1-8 the individual motors. You can see the mapping of the motors at the top under the heading. Right back is in the case the 1, left front the 4.
Now write down the numbers 1,2,3,4 among each other and leave some space to the left. Now test engine 1 to 4 and record the actual results to the left of the vertical number series. Also test the predetermined direction of rotation with those of the motors. You will learn how to change these in another article.
On to the command line!
Enter the command “resource” here and confirm with input. A list of all resources, a kind of internal connection between software and hardware (solder pads and pins) appears. now mark and copy the 4 lines from above, in which “motor” stands and which are relevant for us. Now insert them into the bottom of the input bar. Here you can only navigate with the arrow keys.
We now override the connection between hardware and software. That is, the code behind engine 1, in our case B00, now becomes, for example, engine 4. The notes you took earlier will help you: the old numbers are in the right column, the new ones in the left column. So if we want to replace engine 1 with engine 4, because the motor 4 has turned on the slider “1” before, we enter the following:
resource motor 4 B00
According to this scheme, we repeat this for all engines that need to be rewritten.
do not switch between the tabs, otherwise the flight controller restarts and the previous entries are lost. Use the “save” command to save.
Now test the motors again in the “Motors” tab.
